Planes, Trains and Mizunos

Thank you all for your very kind comments about my 2010 goals. It’s great to have a community to engage with who understands what it means when I say “I negative split the shit out of that half marathon!” or “man, my transition times were da bomb this tri season.” My race talk is like speaking a foreign language with some of my friends…
I am en route back to DC today. That means I have a fun-filled day of multiple flights, some metro riding and a very likely taxi cab with the obscene amount of luggage I’m toting around.
Can you guess how I spent my limited time left in the Green Mountain State?
I managed to frantically pack, visit my friend’s new baby and squeeze in one last, glorious, snowy run with my mom before heading to the airport.
Yes it was frigid and dark outside but it was still running and I was with my mom. A worthwhile tradeoff if you ask me.
We got in 3.5 miles. My fourth pain free run while home in Vermont and my second consecutive 3 and a halfer. My weekly mileage may only be up to 12 miles but that’s 12 spectacular miles more than I’ve been running for the past 12 weeks. You can high five me later.
Today also marks Day 3 of Boston Training. Because I’m forbidden to go near a track for a while, I did half mile repeats on the elliptical yesterday. I figure it’s better than NO speed training, right? Or did I just look like a fast and furious fool on the elliptical? All of the above? That’s what I thought.
I’m currently staring at an empty gate hour and we’re about 30 minutes past boarding time.
I’d like to say “catch you from DC!” but I’m slightly concerned that’s not actually where I’ll be the next time you hear from me. Send good travel vibes my way!
