This Is Not Goodbye

Tuesdays that are really “Mondays” might be even worse than actual Mondays. I want my long weekend back. Especially since I spent my weekend swim bike running in the HILLS of Lake Placid, NY.
In case you’re just tuning in after spending the Memorial Day unplugged (I don’t blame you, I did the same thing, hello 2,000 unread posts on my Google Reader), I spent the holiday weekend checking out the Ironman Lake Placid Course (and running the Vermont City Marathon.)
My computer decided to crash when I got home last night, so you all will have to wait for my full race report from the marathon because all of my pictures are saved on my precious pink dell. For now, I’m stuck blogging from The Rocketship’s silly white computer.
I spent my last morning in Lake Placid checking out the swim course.
The swim course for this Ironman is awesome because the buoys are linked together with a white cable underwater that you can sight off of instead of constantly lifting your head to make sure your swimming in a straight line (something I’m very much not good at during a race.)
Now I just need to fight off the other 2,999 swimmers that are starting at the EXACT SAME TIME during the mass swim start with me to land precious swimming real estate along the cable. Screw building up my swim mileage, I need to start devoting my time in the water to learning how to throw a good elbow and make an underwater tackle.
I may or may not have also practiced peeing in a wet suit during my swim yesterday. If you’ve been reading Sweat Once a Day for more than a hot second you can probably guess which it was.
After a nice sunrise swim and a plate of freshly baked biscuits (obviously not by me) it was time to make the longgg trek back to DC.
Luckily, this is not goodbye Lake Placid, only See You Later! Specifically, on July 24th. Hopefully I’ll be a little bit more prepared for your brutal hills by then. xoxo Emily
