It’s FRIDAY sweaty friends. And you know what that means? Well, allow me to tell you exactly what it means.
It means it’s almost Super Bowl Weekend and time to watch the GMEN show the Patriots how champions play football. I’m even going to paint my nails for the occasion. In NYG colors of course. It’s very convenient that all of the sparkly and arguably obnoxious but mostly just awesome accessories that I bought for Houston are all colors that match those of my football team. I held off on the whole nail painting thing this morning, because you know, professional obligations and all, but COB today and it’s going to be all Giants colors all weekend long.
It also means it’s almost time for me to attempt Long Run Numero Two. I’ve got my eye on double digit mileage and I’m pretty psyched about that.
And perhaps most importantly, it marks the end of a week where I feel like I’m finally getting back into the groove of an endurance athlete. The last seven days have been full of good runs, long runs, lots of core work, actually motivating to cross train and getting my butt out of bed on a daily basis to rock morning workouts, lunchtime workouts and double workouts galore. It feels good to be back at it.
Also, fun fact of the day: on February 3, five years ago, I graduated from college.
On skis, in a cap and gown. There may have also been champagne involved. Best commencement ceremony EVER.
Friday also means it’s time for me to share another spin workout. This baby is kind of all over the place. A few songs with F bombs galore (sorry I’m not sorry that I don’t download the radio edited versions) and then some peppy happy stuff. Healthy balance, folks, healthy balance. A lesson for life AND spinning playlists.
So, here you go, let’s call it my Super Bowl Spinning list, since, I’m pretty sure nothing that is happening this weekend matches its importance:
Bulletproof-La Roux Warm Up
Drowning (Face Down) – Saving Abel Moderate climb, seated steady pace, standing each chorus with strong pace
Brighter than the Sun- Colbie Caillat Seated flat road pickups with added resistance for pickups
Faint- Linkin Park Seated hill climb, working 30 second intervals
Fight for You – Jason Derulo Not so moderate standing climb, strong working pace with pickups for the chorus sections

Domino – Jesse J 70/80/90 Ride starting in 70 percent pace with a turn above a flat road, increasing pace every minute up to 90 percent effort
Rollin- Limp Bizkit Power/acceleration, Start on flat road, accelerate pace, add heavy resistance for the chorus, all out effort, back to flat road x 4, talk loudly over excessive profanity
Wavin Flag – Knaan Start at a moderate climb and a steady pace, add resistance every 30 seconds without letting the pace fall

I Don’t Wanna Live-Good Charlotte Fast pace seated work with all out effort for 3×20 seconds
Call your Girlfriend- Robyn Cool Down
As always, please share the best jams that you’ve been getting sweaty to in the comments section.
And final thought of the day…GMEN!

YUSSSS! As one of your gays, I am extremely proud that Robyn has made the list!
I did it JUST FOR YOU (and Meredith)
1. Great playlist.
2. Who has graduation in February? That seems odd. Please explain.
Ha ha, my latest running playlist is “empowering female pop hits of the 90s.”
Salt n Pepa: Shoop, None of Your Business
En Vogue: Never Gonna Get It
TLC: No Scrubs, Unpretty
And lots of Janet Jackson.
Et cetera.
Not even joking, that was some good, lady-positive stuff. It pumps me up.
Where did you go to school? That is pretty awesome!
Middlebury College in Vermont. The school owns a ski mountain, it’s pretty awesome.
So cool! I think it’s neat that they matched their graduation to what the school is like.
But…how will everyone KNOW it’s Giants colors and not Pats colors? Better make sure the jersey’s on all weekend just in case. Hehe.
Wait you really wore full on skis?! Xc or downhill? Did you go down a mountain in your cap and gown? Please explain, it sounds awesome! I miss college.
I love Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend”! Lately I’ve been loving Metric’s “Help I’m Alive” for a good warm-up/cool-down song.
This upcoming May will mark 5 years from graduation for me….it feels like so much has happened in that time span, but also FIVE YEARS! It doesn’t seem quite that long ago…
That is quite possibly the best commencement ever. Just like you said. Mine involved WAY too many people, the ridiculous heat of June (this was my masters as I skipped undergrad commencement!) a HUGE arena, and smelly undergrad boys. Lol.
That is a very cool commencement!! We had a ski mountain but I guess in June there was no snow…
Have fun on your double digit run!!
It was the best commencement ever even if it was just a tad cold! The more formal one in May was quite excellent too with it’s choice of speakers.
LOVE LOVE LOVE music posts. Awesome jams. If I was in DC I”d be at your spin class fo sure!
your spin class looks pretty hard! or at least probably harder than soulcycle. I am now addicted to spinning.
What? There’s football this weekend?… haha
I would love your Spin class!
Why do you like the giants? Aren’t you from closer to new England?
Umm I really need to know where you went to college that you graduated on skis with champagne! Congrats to your team!
I have been reading your blog for a while and you always make me laugh. You inspired me to write my own blog while I train for my first IM in Florida! I am putting the link to your blog (and Ali’s and Sarah’s) in one of my posts. Though my blog is not as cheeky as you girls I have to give credit where it is due. Thanks for the laughs and motivation!
