Up and Running

My blog is alive again!
Some dumb internet evil-does hacked into my blog this week and made it all kinds of sick.
I apologize to everyone who was greeted with a malware warning and thank all you kids who sent me tweets and emails letting me know what was up. After trying to fix it myself and realizing my technology skills are best when limited to pushing the “toast” button on a toaster, I solicited the help of an expert, and I am finally back up and running.
And also in Portland!
Up and ready to be running.
I got in late last night and my amazing triathloning hostess (who lives in this amazing city with her amazing husband and amazing beagle) scooped me up from the airport and delivered me straight to one of the 1,826 brew pubs in Portland.
See those tall doughy sticks of perfection? Those are fresh out of the oven pretzels the size of my arm. With warm beer/cheese dipping sauce. Served next to my locally brewed imperial IPA. Yeah, I was in heaven. Which I expressed out loud rather frequently, alongside many thank yous to my Portland running friend.
To which Alisa kept responding: “you told me you wanted beer and carbs!”
This girl is amazing. I also woke up to find a spread of multiple kinds of bread products ready to be peanut buttered, because in addition to my trip out here for work, I’m spending this morning running a marathon!
On trails. It’s going to be a good day out here in Portland.
After loving every second of last weekend’s trail 50k, and getting stupid giddy excited for the 50 miler, I decided one last weekend of long running in the woods was exactly what I need to toe the line in Can Lake bursting with excitement to run the race.
Catch you all on the other side of 26.2 and good luck to everyone else running and racing this am!

I had no clue you were coming to town! Good luck in Forest Park! I run there often – I hope that you have a ton of fun! It is a PERFECT day for a run! Let me know if you still need someone to eat carbs with – or want a slow (9min mile) recovery 20 miler tomorrow on the waterfront – that’s where I’ll be!
Those dough sticks look amazing!! Good luck today!
I am glad you are up and running, literally too. ;)
Welcome to Portland! I literally live 2 miles away from the Wildwood trail. I love running there but I have to be up for the hilly 2 miles of running that it takes to get to the trail head not to mention I’m a prime candidate for a twisted ankle or trip and fall experience. (I hope you avoid both, by the way.) Happy racing. I love your blog. You keep me laughing. :)
You had me at beer cheese and then you went to pretzels. Nom. Have a great race! :)
I’ll be in Portland for the Portland Marathon in a couple of weeks. Those pretzels (and the beer cheese!) sound fantastic. What brewpub is that?
All the best Em! And post pics of the trail!
So glad your blog is back up. Dumb stupid internet hackers. I hope your race went well! Can’t wait to hear details
Pretzels look amazing!
I thought of you this weekend, I did a 50 mile relay and there were a few people – including one guy in a wheelchair who did the full 50 miles across Long Island alone. You crazy ultra runners are AMAZING.
A-MAZ-ING weekend! Also, from reading some of these comments, looks like there are other bloggers in P-town I haven’t met!
Come back anytime…such a FUN weekend, loved having you here!
