VCM Training Week 4

Last week was a bit of a forced step-back week in intensity thanks to work travel, but I think my body appreciated (and probably needed) the rest after a tough first three weeks of marathon training.

I could have just summed up this week with “I ran a lot of easy miles” but in the interest of upping my Type A game, the details:

Monday: Easy hour on the elliptical

Tuesday: 7 easy miles

Pilates

Wednesday: 7 easy miles

Thursday: 6 easy miles in the morning

10 blissful miles on some Salem trails in the pm

Friday: 5 easy miles

Pilates

Saturday: 18.5 mile long run w/last 10 miles rotating 1 mile MGP/1 mile cruise

Pilates

  1. I am amused by your description of an “easy” week being 63 miles. Rock star.

  2. I agree with Nicole. Plus I want to hear about the trail race!

  3. OK, I know I’ve already commented on this, but I am seriously so impressed by all your pilates! It is such a victory for me if I make it to more than one yoga in a week, and I really should be keeping on it with the core/stretch stuff. It shows in my running related aches and pains when I neglect it and I’m not committed enough to do the yoga on my own without the class, hah.

Last pic – maybe I missed it, is there anything going on with the tape on your shin?

  4. I wish I could use the words “step-back week” and “63.5 miles total” in the same sentence. You are a beast! Oh and way to stick to the pilates and yoga.

  5. An 18-miler, pilates and hot yoga in a 24-hour period? You are such a wimp ;-)

  6. Wait….are those race schwag? You do the best races…. And wow, way to go on the hard core training.

  7. Because I think in KMs, it’s always harder for me to really “get” how much mileage you’re running…until I google it out of curiousity and realize. Damn. I feel guilty for hemming and hawing about trying to squeeze in my 14k this morning before work… Next time I need some motivation, I’ll know where to look! :)

    • Same here! And I had to break out the Excel spreadsheet to do it. No kidding. Hmmm 63 miles in a week is cutback week? I’m happing if I can hit 100 in a month!

  8. I’m pretty impressed that you’re “step back” week would be my “holy crap my body is about to fall apart week”. I’m impressed. Just reading about it made me hungry for bagels.

  9. Taken a leaf out of your book and trying to incorporate pilates into my routine regularly, my core is aching!!!

  10. As an avid blog follower, I’m quite concerned when I see K tape on your lower leg. What’s UP!???
