Run Across the USA

After 16 days and 4979 miles of driving, I am officially in EUGENE.
I am sitting in front of a computer for the first time in as many days and miles and I am absolutely overwhelmed by how much happened and the thought of trying to capture it all in a blog post. Before I left, I naively believed I would be able to document our adventures in real time. But as we woke up for sunrise after sunrise and stayed up well into the night, filling each evening with a healthy dose of pint glasses, beer-filled mason jars, and campfires, I quickly realized that life on the road did not come with blogging opps included.
Instead of writing a novel about all sixteen days of wanderlusting, let’s start with the stuff that REALLY matters to this blog: the sweaty stuff.
Saturday: Ran 13 miles around DC to say goodbye to my city before scooping Sarah up from the bus station.
Sunday: Ran 18 miles through Corntown, Ohio for the second part of a weekend long run back-to-back, miraculously survived the death of Captain Type A’s garmin
did many roadside planks enroute to Chicago.
Monday: Ran 50 easy minutes along the lake in Chicago with Corey.
More roadside planks en route to Minneapolis
Tuesday: Biked 10 miles around .003% of the lakes in Minnesota
Ran 45 super sketch minutes through Rapid City during Sturgis.
Wednesday: FAVORITE run of the trip (slash my life) with 7 easy trail miles along Yellowstone Lake
Talk about a Rave Run
Lake Yellowstone is the biggest lake at the highest elevation (7700+) or something equally cool, but it was hard to tell that my lungs were suffering from the altitude while my mind was so busy being blown by the views.
PICTURES DO NOT DO THIS JUSTICE (theme of the trip).
Pretty sure this was my first-ever 5 digit elevation sweat. Welcome to the west coast, lungs.
Planked with some bison
Friday: Ran 8 miles w/27 harder minutes during a lunchtime roadtrip layover in Boise, Idaho.
Chased the miles with pints (another theme of the trip).
Week 2 later!
